All courses are inspired and based on the Raja Yoga meditation practice from the Brahma Kumaris.

Learn to Meditate | Introduction

In this Introduction Course to Meditation the main principles of the Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Meditation are introduced with many easy to practice exercises for day to day application.

Introduction to mediation course is offered once a month.

Format

The course is offered in two different formats

  • In two consecutive evening sessions normally on a Monday and Tuesday from 6.00 – 8.00 pm
  • As a one day seminar on a Saturday from 10.00 – 4.00 pm.
    Lunch will be provided. All participants  are invited to participate in the cooking and cleaning up as an exercise in vegetarian cooking and as an exercise in meditative and cooperative working together. The contribution towards lunch is $10.

Session Two

 

The topics covered in this course lead to a deeper understanding of yourself, your intrinsic positive qualities and your innate value. In time, this understanding becomes a natural part of your day to day awareness, constructively influencing how you see yourself and how you relate to your world.

In the process of exploring these universal concepts in the privacy of your own inner world through meditation, you will come to a first hand awareness of the interconnectedness of the human family and the rights, roles and responsibilities of individuals. This is very important in your spiritual development and will give you a fresh perspective on values such as justice, freedom, respect and love.

The concepts presented in this course are simple yet profound and are accessible to individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs. Simple and honest effort is the only prerequisites for success in meditation. As in any field of endeavour, the rewards of meditation and spiritual study are in proportion to the time and effort you invest.

Inner Leadership

 

In the present pressure-driven world there is an increasing demand not only for efficiency and timelines, but for more emotional sensitivity over ourselves from within. We have two lives - the one we live and the one we could live if we were able to understand how to liberate the potential of the values and strengths that reside inside us. There is so much more than just living on automatic pilot going from one day to the next, from one situation to the next, impelled by circumstance and obligations. Real and lasting change does not come from quick fix recipes but from a deep sense of purpose and the self-discipline necessary to give that purpose direction. The subjects related to Inner Leadership are, if we want to really be able to lead others, we first have to be able to lead ourselves. The Qs of what, why, how to and where to are the subjects of this Inner Leadership course.

Overcoming Anger

 

Anger is an expression of inner pain and means lost focus, loss of control, drains your energy and is one of life’s most powerful and destructive experience. Anger has many faces – both passive and aggressive – silent brooding jealousy, sulking, full-blown rage, cold fury, mild irritation and resentment. So what is anger all about? Anger is a sign that all is not well within; there is pain, because our expectations are not being met and our inner world needs some attention. With practical tools and understanding, anger can be prevented, diffused and with new self-awareness, the damage of an episode can be dealt with. The course will cover:

  • understanding the underlying causes of anger
  • seeing the effect of anger on our well-being
  • realising the impact of anger on our relationships
  • using our energy in a more productive and constructive way

Positive Thinking / Feeling

Overview

Explore the power and influence of thought and the impact of positive attitudes “You are what you think!”

This simple but accurate statement indicates that what we say, what we do, and what we feel – all have their origin in the mind.

The energy of the human mind is one of the greatest, but least understood energy resources of the universe. When we understand and harness this energy, we possess the keys to happiness and contentment as well as to improving our relationships and circumstances.

How I think about myself and how I use my mind immediately affects my relationship both with myself and others. Trust, love, respect, understanding, and good communication characterise any good relationship. Am I my own good friend and companion?

Thoughts are like seeds. Loving and happy thoughts produce beautiful flowers and nourishing fruits; or thoughts can be spiteful and depressed, producing painful brambles or poisonous weeds. We can master our life by producing those ‘fruits’ which are wholesome, attractive and nourishing, and which give us the most happiness and contentment.

The aim of the Positive Thinking/Feeling Seminar is to give you an understanding of the nature of thought. You will learn methods for being more positive and constructive at home, at work and in your relationships. Learn how to:

Stress Free Living

 

Stress has been identified as a leading cause of many health problems. Largely psychological, rather than physical in origin and therefore much more difficult to prevent and remedy, modern stress affects nearly all of us at some point in our lives. Regardless of its origin, stress drains our physical, emotional and mental energy. Several myths exist about the causes of stress and the most effective ways of dealing with it. A Stress-Free Living seminar can free you from these illusions and misconceptions and give you a new perspective. You will learn how to:

  • identify different levels of stress and rise above them to create a relaxed mind and body
  • identify the root causes of stress
  • move from fearing change to embracing it
  • protect yourself from negative and stressful influences
  • recognise the role of expectation in creating stress
  • discover the spiritual core at the heart of harmonious relationships

Mindfulness Meditation Discovering Yourself

 

How to switch your attention from the outer to the inner world and find that sacred space within

This course will cover useful information on mindfulness, the benefits, different techniques and meditation exercises and making time for self reflection. Each session will help you learn how to live in the moment. The practice of mindfulness will improve your mental and physical well-being greatly and gently. Each course is unique, sharing benefits, inspirations, new insights and new ways of doing things. We will practice Mindfulness Meditation to become peaceful, stay calm in problematic situations and develop awareness. You will learn to observe, to just notice in a non-judgmental way and increase your awareness to be in the present.

The Mindfulness Course is made up of five stand alone sessions and covers:
