What narratives emerge from the memories that form of identity? Can we discover and come to an understanding of the importance of small remembered incidents and can this be expressed through art or writing which many then have a broader more universal application?
Guest speaker: Prof Dr Ann Graham, is an artist and academic, she was the Head of Fine Art at the University of Newcastle and previously held the same position at the University of Western Sydney. In 2010 she retired from her academic position to become a full time artist with her home and studio in Little Harley. She has exhibited extensively in many prestigious exhibitions in Australia and overseas such as the Biennale of Sydney, Perspecta and the Festivals in Adelaide. In 2000 she completed ‘Passage’ a major permanent public art work for the City of Sydney, located in Martin Place as part of the City of Sydney Sculpture Walk, for which she received the Merit Award from Women in Construction. Further public artworks were create for the Tweed River Regional Gallery, Newcastle City Council and the Australian National University. She is the recipient of many grants and awards.
