Please find attached our program of events for the month of August.
Continuing with SAM, an empowering self-development group run by men for men, aiming to explore the spirit of man through informative dialogue, honest interaction and the silence of meditation. SAM - Spirituality and Men, meets on the first Wednesday of every month. This month's guest speaker is Graeme Cowan, who will talk on 'The Overlooked (and critical) key to Men's Well-Being'. Graeme worked in senior leadership positions but then went through a five year episode of depression. He emerged from this crisis with a different view about how we can build our own resilience, mood and performance. He is now an international acclaimed author and speaker, written four books, amongst the bestseller 'Back From the Brink' and is the co-founder of R U OK ?
Our special guest speaker of the Women's Empowerment Group is the founder and director of Mandala Yoga Anita Modok. Anita's passion for movement, music and art are infused in her teaching. Originally trained as in classical ballet, Anita founded Sydney Corporate Yoga. Previously Anita had senior roles in the arts, media and marketing. She worked globally for The Big Backyard, NIDA, News Ltd. Screen rights, the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. She is also a photographic and media artist and a filmmaker. Anita will be sharing her story on the topic 'From the Inside Out'.
We also invited back Dr Devorah Wainer, who ran a very successful session in the beginning of the year with the topic 'Emotional Overwhelm - Coming Back to Balance'. This is a workshop with Devorah not to be missed, who sees herself as a companion soul-traveller. She is a meditator, has studied spiritual knowledge for 40 years and works now at the Sydney University in the Human Rights Institute. She lectures at universities internationally and for the past 19 years Devorah has advocated for asylum seeking refugees. She is also the author of 'Beyond the Wire'.
This month we have a very special lunchtime meditation, with Judy Johnson, visiting from Canada. Judy, a longtime meditator and professional facilitator and coach, will be speaking the meditation commentary together with crystal singing bowls.
And as for this month's courses, please feel welcome to explore a four-step sequence Seminar on Inner Leadership, finding a sense of Identity, Purpose, Direction and Sustaining the journey and the five sessions on the Mindfulness Course. The practice of mindfulness supports to focus your attention and intend of action and learning to live more in the moment without being judgemental.This month we have one very special lunchtime meditation, with Judy Johnson, visiting from Canada.
